According to media reports, the obligation to wear medical masks on board aircraft and at airports will be dropped across Europe on Monday (16 May).

The relaxation was announced by the European Aviation Safety Agency EASA and the EU health authority ECDC. The reason for the relaxations, they said, was the rising number of vaccinations, the immunity created by infections and the accompanying lifting of restrictions in a growing number of European countries. However, wearing a mouth-nose protection is still recommended as a protective measure against the transmission of COVID-19.
